Story 23: Using the Shopping Malls to Get Laid in Colombia

In my early moments living in Barranquilla over a decade ago, I sometimes went to shopping malls to find chicks that would be down for some fun

In some malls, there will be enough foot traffic for you to find a cute girl here and there

For example, I have often gone to shopping malls like Buenavista to simply approach women and start a casual conversation with them

And in the conversation, you become a little bit more flirtatious, she asks where are you from and things go from there

Maybe you get her number, maybe you don’t

Perhaps you two exchange Instagram contact information – which is a great way to get laid also as I talked about in this article here

And then you two set up a date later and perhaps have sex with a hot Colombian chick

While in other malls, it will sometimes appear that the place is dead

Where there are not as many women to approach unfortunately

So not all malls are created equally obviously

Also, keep in mind that some malls are a bit more dangerous because of their location in a bad neighborhood

One time when I was in a shopping mall in a relatively more dangerous neighborhood in Barranquilla

I think it was Paseo Bolivar Centro Comercial but I don’t quite remember well

But anyway, I was walking around this place looking for a girl to stop here and there and engage in some casual conversations

Got a few numbers but I also noticed a decent amount of random dudes staring at me and possibly checking out to see if I am worth stealing from

Now keep in mind that shopping malls tend to be much safer areas in Colombia, which makes them all around better for “daygame” and meeting girls

In part because these places usually have security guards in them

So it’s not uncommon in shopping malls like Buenavista in Barranquilla to see people carrying their phones in their hands even

Which, in many other parts of Colombia, that simply wouldn’t happen because people would be afraid of getting it stolen

It could be argued anyway that maybe this shopping mall that I was at was not a place to do that either

Because I remember having my phone in my hand while walking around here

And when someone was staring at me, they would be looking more intensely at my phone in my hand too

So suffice to say, I got the message and put the phone in my pocket

Which, I’m not down for normally because of stuff I have heard about cell phone radiation and all of that

But anyway, when you are using the shopping malls in Colombia to meet hot Colombian women, make sure to investigate the neighborhood around it obviously

There are advantages and disadvantages to going to nicer and poorer shopping malls

So let’s cover those facts that you will need to know if you intend to use the shopping malls here in Colombia to meet women and get laid

Main Points

First, for a nicer shopping mall like Buenavista, it will be a little bit easier to meet women that speak English than in poorer shopping malls

In large part because people there are most likely from nicer neighborhoods

Where maybe they studied in a private school and learned English a bit better

So for those who don’t speak a lick of Spanish, definitely keep an open mind to nicer shopping malls like Buenavista

Second, nicer shopping malls have more safety. Now this isn’t just for you but also for the women you hope to approach

If you approach a chick in a poorer shopping mall, she will most likely be down for casual chat if she finds you attractive enough

But they do tend to feel a little more intense because of the worse security situation in places like this

Which overall can make them more hesitant to pull out their phone and exchange numbers with a complete stranger

Just keep that in mind – it’s definitely possible to pull numbers from places like this but will be a little more difficult

And you will need more Spanish obviously

Third, as mentioned before, some shopping malls have more foot traffic than others. And in my experience, nicer malls tend to have more people to approach than poorer ones but you can find hot girls in either one.

Fourth, when you do exchange numbers, keep in mind that she probably lives somewhere in the vicinity of the shopping mall you met her.

This isn’t always the case but is common enough that it needs to be mentioned

Now why is this important?

Because if she lives in a bad neighborhood, it’s more likely that a few of your dates might end up in the neighborhood that she is in

Now if you are like me, you might be a bit dumb sometimes when looking to get laid and don’t care so much how dangerous a place is

But anyway, this isn’t the biggest issue because you can always pay for her taxi or uber for her to show up to your place anyway

Which is better logistics if you are looking to get laid on this date

But suffice to say, over the years of doing “daygame” in Colombian shopping malls, I still have found myself in not the best neighborhoods

So it’s something to keep in mind anyway

Fifth, you also need to keep in mind the size of the shopping mall. The bigger the place, the more women you can approach. The smaller the place, the less women you can approach in a certain amount of time.

Simply because you will get noticed more likely.

Now it’s not likely anyone will say anything but it’s something to keep in mind obviously

But that leads to another point…

In most of Colombia outside of maybe Medellin, there aren’t that many men doing “daygame” to be honest

So there isn’t as much of an issue with men trying to meet women in public as you see in places like the US, Canada or Europe

On top of that, things are not as toxic when it comes to gender relations so it’s not as negatively seen by the public compared to how you see “daygame” shown by the mainstream media up there

Sixth, indirect game is usually better for these shopping malls. Now again it depends on the size of the mall. In larger malls in Colombia, direct game can work in some circumstances a little bit easier. But in smaller malls, your best bet is indirect game to attract less attention in general.

Seventh, you will be a little more “exotic” in poorer shopping malls than larger ones. In large part because you might occasionally see another foreigner just strolling by in nicer shopping malls.

Also, the Colombians in larger shopping malls tend to be richer and are more likely to have spend time in the US, Canada or Europe. So being from a foreign country can still be a leg up but not as strongly as it can be when approaching in poorer shopping malls.

But as said in this article I wrote here, simply being a foreigner isn’t going to get you laid in of itself. But there is a difference in how “exotic” you are based on the type of mall you go to.

Eighth, some cities bring you more “exotic value” than other cities. Again, it’s not going to get you laid for simply being a foreigner in a place where not as many foreigners visit. It’s simply a slightly nice leg up in terms of having dating success down here.

But cities like Medellin, Cartagena or Bogota will bring less “exotic” value than cities like Pereira, Cali, Pasto or Barranquilla for example.

But even then times are changing and more tourists are visiting places like Cali, Pereira or Barranquilla. Less so Pasto as of right now.

So expect things to change a little bit over time when it comes to certain other cities. They sure did change for Medellin anyway for those who have been here long enough!

Ninth, do “instadates” work in Colombia when approaching in shopping malls? In a simple word, yes. There are plenty of Colombian women that are down for it. And keep in mind that things are more relaxed here with scheduling.

Not all Colombian women have a very busy schedule and plenty are just passing the time. So it’s not too difficult to bring a chick you saw to a café in the shopping mall for example after getting her number.

Though keep in mind that you have more “careerist” women in the largest cities like Bogota, Medellin or even Cartagena to a slighter extent.

So it will be a little more common for women in those cities to not have the time for this. But it’s something to keep in mind if you happen to be interested in setting up a quick date like this after getting her number.

Tenth, how easy are the women when approaching them in shopping malls?

But I never noticed much of a difference in easiness when comparing women between poorer and richer shopping malls.

It’s never been difficult for me to get laid from meeting women in shopping malls down here but it will vary depending on your circumstances as mentioned in this article I wrote here.
