Over the years living in Colombia, I have met the occasional foreigner who wants to date older Colombian women
Granted, most of the ones who want to date women here tend to go for the young chicks in their 20s
But I have known others who don’t want that – in part because they believe all the younger girls will only want to date them for money…
Or that they find their immaturity to be too much…
Or that they don’t have much in common with them
Even though a bigger age difference is more acceptable in Colombia as I wrote about in another article, these men often find too many issues for dating a woman in her 20s
The thing is….
There isn’t much information online about how to date older Colombian women
In large part because much of the interest online is focused towards the younger chicks who are more beautiful physically
However, I know that there is some interest among a decent amount of foreigners who are interested in going abroad temporarily or permanently to have a loving relationship with a latina woman who is similar in age
And many times, as is always the case, many of these foreigners go for the usual popular countries like Colombia
And what exactly is “older?”
Well, for practical purposes, let’s say “older” is 30 to 50.
Keep in mind that things are a little different in Colombia
In the US, an “older” woman is probably going to be defined as 40 to 50 let’s say
But I’d take out an extra 10 years there and say 30 to 50 in Colombia because Colombian women tend to “go through life” quicker than American women
Especially when it comes to marriage
For example, the median age at first marriage for Colombian women is 21.4 years
Which is similar to how the US was way back in 1970 when the median age at first marriage back then for women was 20.8. Now it’s 26.1 as of 2010.
In my experience in Colombia, Colombian women tend to treat the age 25 in the same way that American women treat the age 30
In that they are getting a lot more pressure to marry already and find someone to start a family with
If they are not in a serious relationship that has likelihood of marriage and kids by 25 at latest, then some of her relatives and friends will wonder if perhaps there is something wrong with her
Of course, like with anything else, this will vary by where you are in Colombia. In a place like Bogota, this is less common and women marry a little bit later and focus more on career.
However, most of Colombia is not Bogota and things are more conservative and traditional outside of the capital city.
So having said all of that, I feel comfortable defining “older” as 30 to 50 and that’s what we will focus on.
Therefore let’s focus on the main topic….
What is it like to date older Colombian women who are in their 30s to 50s?
Meeting Them
Naturally, you are going to have to know how to meet them to get some numbers and then see where that takes you.
So how do you do that?
Well, it’s similar to meeting women in general.
You can meet them online, at a bar, in a public place, through a common connection or whatever else
Among those options, I’d say online or in a public place is most likely.
If you are a foreigner, you may not have any common connections (Colombian friends or a Colombian job) that would introduce you to women here
Additionally, bars in Colombia tend to have a lot more younger chicks and it’s mostly tables and chairs
Not as much interaction between strangers
So meeting them online or in public is the best way to go
Online Dating
When it comes to online dating, you basically got Tinder or one of the Cupid sites – Colombian Cupid or Latin American Cupid.
With Tinder, you are going to meet a lot younger women below 30.
There will be some in their 30s
And very few above 40
And also Tinder really isn’t the best option in my opinion
When I was using Tinder here before I met my current girlfriend, it wasn’t uncommon to meet the occasional Colombian chick who was over 40 and announcing in her Tinder profile that she is looking for an affair
Where she says she is married and basically wants to cheat on her husband without him knowing
That was not too uncommon to see when using Tinder and seeing older women on there in Colombia
So when it comes to finding an older Colombian woman for something serious, I don’t recommend Tinder
Though if you are interested in using Tinder for older women, check out my article on how to use Tinder in Colombia
Now when it comes to Colombian Cupid or Latin American Cupid, the women on there are more likely to be serious
And you will find a greater amount of older women there than you would on Tinder
However, online dating isn’t perfect and you have to keep in mind some of the negatives also
First, women in general (regardless of age) can always lie about their looks or weight. And plenty do so keep that in mind
Also, when dealing with older women, you have to keep in mind that she could also be lying about the number of kids she has and if she is currently married or not
On the topic of marriage, some women down here are separated but not legally divorced for whatever reason
So they may omit that fact until you two get serious
And others just want an affair but are not as obvious about it as the chicks mentioned before
Though in my experience women looking for affairs tend to be much less common on the Cupid sites than Tinder
The other main issue that you will have with online dating, including the Cupid sites, is that you have to be careful to avoid the occasional scammer
Where some chick tells you she needs money right now to pay for her kid
She might be sending you some half sexy photos and showing an excessive amount of interest without you two even having met yet in person
Most women on the Cupid sites and online dating in general don’t behave this way
But given that some do, you have to be careful and use common sense to avoid this scam
And then you can have more fun and success finding older Colombian women to date on the Cupid sites
Which, as I said before, is the best place online to find and date older Colombian women
And if you haven’t even set foot in Colombia yet, online dating can be a good start to your efforts to date older Colombian woman before you even get here
Public Place
Compared to online dating, I find meeting women in public spaces to be more rewarding
And you will too when you want to date older Colombian women
You will generally find more datable women who have fewer problems and are better and higher quality for a serious relationship in my opinion
So where should you meet them?
Well, it depends on the city
Since when you arrive to Colombia, you will notice every city is different with its own places to visit
Thankfully for you, there are plenty of city guides on this website that offer information on a wide range of Colombian cities
More than any other website on the internet I believe
So check those out if you have a city in mind!

However, if we are talking in generalities and you don’t have a city in mind yet, I would say shopping malls and public parks are the best places
Especially in shopping malls since those tend to be the best places to meet Colombian women in general when in public
Having said all of that, now it is important to ask some of the common characteristics of what it’s like to date older Colombian women…
Characteristic 1: Living With Family
As mentioned elsewhere on this website, Colombian women tend to take family very seriously
And even live with their parents often until they are married or into their 30s
And I have met the occasional Colombian chick here and there who live with their parents until their 30s
In which they would always explain afterwards that they are not leaving until they settle down
In other cases, some Colombian women I have met might have moved out of their family home years before to be with a guy they married
But then they divorced or separated and the woman moves back in with her parents
Between the two – I would say that probably the woman who married, divorced and returned back to her parents is more common
Simply because many Colombian women marry very soon in life and so being single into her 30s without having given marriage a chance is simply not common
Characteristic 2: Importance of Career
Of the older Colombian women who are single, some of them are still not married because they focused so much on their career that they never spent much time looking for a guy
Similar to more and more women in the US
The thing is though that most Colombian women are not like this
And similar to other things in Colombia, this type of woman is simply more common in places like Bogota
However, among the specific demographic of women who are single into their 30s and even 40s, the “career” woman is simply much more represented
In fact, the 2 most common types of women I have met who were older and single were usually one of the following 2:
- Career women
- A woman who was married and divorced
I haven’t met too many other Colombian women who were older and single and didn’t meet one of these two descriptions.
Characteristic 3: Kids
The older she is, the likelihood that she has had kids already is much more likely.
So the question becomes – are you comfortable helping raise the kids of another man that she was with before?
And all the complexities that come with that
In my opinion, it’s not worth it
However, if you are OK with that, then no big deal here
Another thing to keep in mind is that some of these women will have had their kids fully raised already
Since we are talking about women between 30 to 50
And in Colombia, women tend to marry and have kids much sooner
So let’s go back to that statistic – the median age of first marriage for Colombian women being 21.4 years
Assuming she is an average woman, let’s say the Colombian girl you met married at 22 and finished having a few kids by 25.
Meaning that older Colombian women in their 40s likely already have their kids raised
And some of them who had kids very early at say 18 to 20 will have had their kids raised before they even reach 40
In this instance, if you don’t want to have a kid with her specifically….
And you don’t want to help her raise previous kids that are not legal adults yet…
Then you are probably looking for a woman who is then late 30s to 50
And that would be more tolerable for me personally since I am not helping raise kids that are not mine, which I’m not interested in
But if I was in that position where I wanted to marry someone older but not raise another person’s kids or have kids of my own with her….
Then going for an older woman from her late 30s to 50 seems like a better choice since the kids are adults already and you will ideally have found the right woman to spend the rest of your life with
Characteristic 4: More Conservative & Traditional
Generally speaking, Colombian women are going to be a little more conservative and traditional than American women
However, older Colombian women are going to be even more traditional than the younger ones
As is the case in most countries anyway
Where she might expect you to pay for some of the dates for example — which is a topic I discussed in greater detail in this article
This is not necessarily the case though if the woman in question is the “career” type woman
However, if she is not the “career” type, then you can expect her to be more conservative and traditional
Such as you paying for dates
Or her insisting on cooking for you
A more traditional mindset
Which is important to remember as you date older Colombian women
Characteristic 5: English Abilities
When it comes to dating older Colombian women, you will generally notice that they are less likely to speak any real English than younger Colombians.
There are more and more younger Colombian women these days who learn English at school or university
However, many of the older ones never learned any of that since Colombia was poorer, spent less money on English education decades ago and there were less tourists going to Colombia
The only exception to this fact are the “career” women who are more likely to speak English since their career ma demand it and they tend to have higher educational achievement
Characteristic 6: More Interest In Your Culture
Compared to younger Colombian women, I found the older ones to generally have more interest in where you are coming from
Asking more questions about your culture and things of that nature
One of the reasons for why I suspect this is the case is that older women are a bit more mature and more interested in learning about stuff like this
Also, you will find older women tend to have more money to travel and some of them do travel from time to time to other countries because they are more likely to have saved up some money for that
So meeting a Colombian woman who is more interested in your culture and your country is more likely if she is a little bit older
Characteristic 7: Experienced More Violence
Colombian women who are a bit older have seen more violence than the younger ones.
As you may know, Colombia was a much crazier country a few decades ago
So Colombian women who are a bit older tend to be less naïve and have likely seen much crazier things happen in life in the news and maybe even in person
So keep that in mind that they tend to be more cautious with strangers and that violence likely is one of the reasons for why that is the case
Which can only make you imagine in what other ways having witnessed all the violence that has happened could have impacted them
Characteristic 8: More Likely to Criticize Colombian Men
Older Colombian women who have been around with Colombian men are more likely to criticize them if they are still single women.
In large part because of the infidelity in the country
And how some of them may have had a husband who cheated on them and never paid money to support their kids
Which is quite common among some Colombian men who do cheat a lot in many cases
So in short, Colombian women who are a bit older are more likely to have some resentment towards men of their own country
It isn’t always the case and I’m not saying most older Colombian women are like that
Just that the type of resentment is more common among the older ones
Characteristic 9: More Sexually Conservative
In my experience, Colombian women who are older tend to be a little more sexually conservative when they are looking for something serious
Having spent 10 years and more in Colombia, I personally have seen the women here become easier by the year when it comes to sex
And I suspect, from my experience here, that the culture is increasingly becoming more liberal each year when it comes to casual sex
That isn’t to say that wasn’t a lot of casual sex 10 years ago – there absolutely was
Just that I have seen the culture here become more liberal than even before when it comes to casual sex
So when it comes to older Colombian women, in m experience, they tend to be on the more conservative side compared to the younger ones since they were raised in a different time
This is important to keep in mind since Colombian women in general have gotten the reputation for being very easy, which isn’t always the case
Characteristic 10: Greater Emphasis on Moving Along the Relationship
As can be expected with older women, there is going to be a greater emphasis on moving the relationship along
The question “what are we” is going to be brought up sooner
She is going to be more interested in your finances and career prospects than some younger women who are not always thinking that
In large part because older women tend to be more serious in general and more focused on what they want
Less games in general
And some of them, especially those in their early 30s, are going to have a much bigger emphasis on having their first kid if they are not a mother yet
For those older and with kids already, they may not have as much of a focus on having kids already but they will have less tolerance for messing around and not moving the relationship along
Which leads me to giving an important piece of advice for men thinking of dating older Colombian women….
Important Advice: Know What You Want
When it comes to dating in general, including older Colombian women, you should have an idea of what you want when dating
Such as….
Casual sex?
Something more serious?
If serious, do you want kids?
Do you believe in marriage?
What type of woman do you even want when it comes to something serious?
When writing this article, I made the assumption that most here reading this will want something serious
Especially since those who just want casual sex are probably going to be looking for a younger Colombian woman who is in her 20s and better looking anyway
But I could be wrong – I’m sure some of you may just want casual sex with an older woman also
Which is perfectly fine if that is what you want
The issue though is knowing what you want and going for it as you date older Colombian women
So that way you don’t waste time and you can better achieve what you are aiming for and get it with less time and energy spent
