In Colombia, it can be difficult to know which are the best cities in Colombia to find a wife
As mentioned in another article that I wrote on this website, it was discussed which cities in Colombia tend to have some of the more unfaithful women and which ones have a stronger casual sex culture.
That is great for men who just want hookups and fun
However, for guys who are a little bit older and are ready to settle down, it has be asked…
Which are the best cities in Colombia to find a wife?
And to best avoid all of the infidelity and hookups that you can find easily in other parts of this country
This is a difficult thing to talk about given the wide range of cities that exist across the country
Though there are great resources available online to help you find a wife in Colombia — including a company called Dream Connections
And despite the amount of experience I have in this country, I haven’t been to literally every city and town in Colombia
Nor am I looking to settle down anymore since I already have a serious partner in my life
However, in the article mentioned above, it was also mentioned some of the best cities in Colombia to find a wife that a guy might want to visit while here
However, it only included a list and not much more information
So in this article, we will be briefly reviewing most of the areas that I recommended foreigners visit when it comes to exploring the best cities in Colombia to find a wife
For those unaware or for those who don’t remember, the recommended best cities in Colombia to find a wife were:
- Popayán
- Riohacha
- Yopal
- Bucaramanga
- Barrancabermeja
- Valledupar
- Sincelejo
- Villavicencio
- Monteria
- Bogota
- Pasto
- Ibagué
When briefly describing these cities, the following qualities will be considered:
- Casual sex culture
- Conservative or liberal area
- Infidelity experiences
- How strong the families seemed to be
- If traditional values exist
- The quality of the city itself for living and raising a family
- Divorce Rates
- Personal Experiences with the women there
- If “careerism” existed
- Miscellaneous Issues
Let’s break it down with the first 10 cities on the list above.
City 1: Popayán
As I’ve said before….
If I wasn’t living in Bogota, I’d most likely be living in this city – Popayán
Located in the Colombian department of Cauca
Popayán is by far the best city in Colombia if you ever wish to meet a nice Colombian woman to marry someday
There are multiple reasons why
First, the city itself is great for raising a family. It is very quiet, relaxed, inexpensive and is beautiful with amazing scenery.Additionally, it has plenty of educational resources for children to learn at and overall makes a great city.
Furthermore, the city has very little infidelity and the women are not the “careerist” type. The place tends to be a bit moreconservative as well with not a very strong casual sex culture. Overall, women here tend to wait longer before sleeping with a guy that they are interested in.
In large part because of the culture of the city itself and also because the family unit is very strong here with everyone knowing everyone
As a result, not many women here are interested in sleeping around
Most tend to want to settle down with someone serious
On the negative side, the main downside to this place is that divorce rates are a little bit higher for where this city is located as the Department of Cauca reported 299 divorces and 342 separations during the year of 2017
On the plus side, that is still much lower than a good deal of Colombia but not as low as some of the other cities on the list
In the end, this place isn’t perfect but is pretty close to it when it comes to finding an ideal woman for marriage.

City 2: Riohacha
Located in the Colombian department of La Guajira, Riohacha is a just a normal city in Colombia that also has more faithful women.
In short, the women here are not the most physically attractive compared to the rest of the country but they are not bad either
You can be more than happy with some of the women here regardless of the lower quality of appearance
However, when it comes to appearance, one good thing about this place is that the women are more conservative in how they dress also and do not often dress sexually in public
Additionally, fidelity here seemed much stronger than in most of Colombia – more than Popayán even
To a point that I would argue that the women here are the most faithful in the entire country but I haven’t been to every city and town as said before
Just more faithful than any other place I know
Also, this place has more traditional values as well and you don’t see as much careerism here either
One more point – the divorce rates are also very low here at around 50 divorces and 65 separations recorded in the entire department of La Guajira in 2017
That is some of the lowest that you will see in the entire country
Overall, Riohacha is one of the best cities in Colombia to find a wife
City 3: Yopal
Located in the Casanare department, Yopal is a typical Colombian city that is also not very well known at all to outsiders
For that reason, you will find that the women here are very interested in foreigners in general from my experience
It almost felt like I was an alien visiting an entirely new planet based on how many women were looking at me and giving me so much attention
I even had a few just randomly approach me to introduce themselves
Furthermore, like most cities on this list, I understood this place to also be a bit more on the conservative side
Not as conservative as Riohacha for example but not conservative regardless
When it comes to casual sex culture, I felt this city was just a little bit easier than some of the other cities on this list
But I suspect that was because of the amount of interest I was getting for being a unique foreigner
Based on the culture, I feel the women here are not really that casual in general
Finally, the divorce rates in the broader department in which this city is located were low
Not as low as La Guajira but lower than Popayán
As they reported 112 divorces and 138 separations for the year of 2017
Pretty good overall
The only negative I had with this city was that it was very boring and didn’t have much to offer
I am not sure this city would be a great place to raise a family as it also felt just a little bit shady in some parts also
Nothing bad happened to me but I didn’t feel entirely safe here either
Also, the place is quite small and doesn’t have much to offer in terms of education or anything else for raising children well in my opinion
City 4: Bucaramanga
Located in the department of Santander, Bucaramanga is another city that I would consider living in long term if Bogota didn’t exist
This city is also known as “the city of the parks” and is very beautiful
One of the reasons why I love this quite a bit is that it has plenty of outdoor activities in general for hiking purposes outside the city and with all the parks it has too
Being very quiet and calm place with plenty of good educational opportunities, this place also makes a decent area to raise afamily
Moreover, the women here are also conservative and very faithful compared to other parts of the country
Though this fidelity doesn’t seem to be as common among the men – it was apparent over time here that a lot of infidelity does happen but it’s mostly with the men in the city
Not as many women being unfaithful
Which in part would explain a weird statistic
In the year 2017, the department that covers this area (Santander) reported 117 divorces and 1,194 separations
That’s a lot of people who don’t want to get divorced yet!
Well, as explained in another article I wrote on this website, it’s not uncommon for people to separate instead of divorce in Colombia
One of those reasons being how religious an area is and how divorce is not always widely accepted
Unfortunately for any woman here who has been cheated on, this means sticking to a marriage but separating
Regardless, this is something to remember as divorces are not as common here as elsewhere
Which also shows to a degree the importance of family in this area as people take family more seriously in such a way that they prefer not to divorce
As people take a harder effort here to try to make the marriage work
Finally, though careerism when it comes to women is not too strong here, it is stronger than some of the other cities on this list
So keep that in mind also
Overall, this is another one of the best cities in Colombia to find a wife that I recommend

City 5: Barrancabermeja
Barrancabermeja is another city located in Colombia that is right along the Magdalena River and within the Santander Department.
Just like Bucaramanga!
So, similar to Bucaramanga, the topic around divorce and separation is trickier here than in other Colombian departments and what was said before applies equally here
Minus the bit though about men cheating more often than women – that might be true but was not something I noticed for this particular city
In fact, I would suspect cheating here in general – for both men and women – to be notably lower in this city than in Bucaramanga
In part because the culture was even more conservative – similar to what I saw in the city of Yopal
This is likely in part because Barrancabermeja is a much smaller city at only around 191,000 people more or less that live here
For Colombia, that is small
In that it is in a way similar to how everyone knows everyone
For that reason and because of the conservative culture, casual sex is not as common here
One other thing to note when compared to Yopal is that the women here were not as easy as the women in Yopal
Not sure why – the ones I met just tended to be a little more conservative and waited an extra date or two before sex
Even though I got a decent amount of interest from the women here for being one of the only foreigners in the area
Finally, this place is not necessarily the best area for raising a child but was not as bad as Yopal
I liked it more because the city was a little bit nicer in some parts
However, there are not as many well developed opportunities for children here as other cities in Colombia and also the Magdalena River that is nearby smelled a little bit and didn’t look very nice in my opinion
So though the city was appealing to the eyes in some areas, it was quite ugly in other parts
Though I wouldn’t say this city is dangerous, it definitely did not feel as safe as other cities in Colombia
So make sure to get a nice money belt or a theft proof backpack if you show up here
On a positive note, I didn’t feel too unsafe here compared to Yopal based on my own experience
City 6: Valledupar
Located in the Cesar Department of Colombia, this city is a nice little gem that is not very well known to most outsiders
One of the things I love about this place is the uniqueness to it
In the same way that Cali is well known for salsa music, Valledupar is well known for vallenato music
And between the two, I prefer vallenato music
And so one thing to remember is that the women love to spend time dancing to vallenato music
So if you come here, you should try to learn the basics
Similar to Cali, you don’t have to be an expert at dancing vallenato
Just by knowing the basics, you have already impressed her because you can handle yourself and she is impressed that you took the time to learn about her culture
On top of that, women here usually dress in a more conservative way by not showing too much skin
But they also dress in a more classy way with a nice dress and maybe some nice makeup also
Very feminine and conservative
And similar to how their dress style is conservative, so is the culture
I never had any issue with the women here being unfaithful and there isn’t much of a casual hookup culture here
On that note, there are not as many divorces here either when compared to the rest of the country. The broader department of Cesar reported 204 divorces and 213 separations in 2017.
The main downside is that you do get tired of hearing vallenato eventually and also the city itself is not very attractive to the eye in my opinion
However, it is a nice and calm place and has nicer outdoor scenery in the outside of the city with plenty of educational resources and other nice aspects inside the city
Overall, a decent place to raise a family
City 7: Sincelejo
Located in the department of Sucre, Sincelejo is another one of those Colombian cities that rarely gets attention from outsiders when compared to other Colombian cities
To be honest, this isn’t one of my favorite cities on the list but it’s not a bad option either.
The main downside is that the city itself is not a very attractive option for raising a family. The city is bit uglier than most of the cities on this list and feels shady in a few parts
The main upside is that it has a decent amount of educational opportunities and other resources for raising a child
When it comes to fidelity, the women here I found are a little more unfaithful than some of the women in other parts of the country
There isn’t an aggressive casual sex culture here but it also wasn’t very difficult to have casual sex when the opportunity came about
Overall, I’d feel comfortable enough trusting a good and high quality woman from this city but you are going to have to look a little bit harder here
On the other hand, divorce rates are not terrible – 207 divorces and 184 separations in 2017.
City 8: Villavicencio
Located in the Meta department of Colombia, this city is another decent option for finding a faithful woman.
The women here are not as faithful as some parts of the country like Popayán or Yopal but it is not too difficult to find a highquality woman here either
Compared to Sincelejo, this city is also a bit nicer when it comes to appearance – a little more green with a few nice parks and plenty of resources for raising a child also
Additionally, there are plenty of mountains nearby and outdoor activates to engage in inside and outside the city
When it comes to the women, they tend to dress a little more conservatively here and also are of better appearance than women in other cities like Riohacha
Though I personally found the women to be a little less attractive than the last option – Sincelejo
Also, divorce rates here are just a little bit higher in the Meta department than other departments like Sucre or Cesar
As the Meta department reported 247 divorces and 333 separations in 2017
Finally, there were more cases of “careerist” women here than in other cities from what I saw
Overall, this isn’t a bad city to visit for finding a faithful woman that would be a good wife in Colombia but it’s also not the best option
City 9: Monteria
Located in the department of Córdoba, this city has plenty of positives when it comes to the women here.
On the positive note, I found the women here to be a bit more conservative and faithful than some of the cities listed right above this one – Villavicencio and Sincelejo.
However, they were not the most attractive women from what I saw when compared to other parts of Colombia like Medellin, Pereira, Manizales, Cali, etc.
However, the women here are not terrible by any means.
When I first visited this city way back in 2008, I wasn’t that impressed by the quality of the women for whatever reason.
But like most of us, opinions change.
I feel one of the reasons for why my opinion has changed is because I have spent more time in this city recently than before.
Where in 2008 I wasn’t there for very long given I was living in Barranquilla at the time.
But with more experience comes with more perspective.
So while the women here are not the most sexy in all of Colombia, that’s like saying that they are not the sexiest women in a room full of models.
Not to say all Colombian women are models obviously — after all, every country has unattractive women.
But you get the point — there isn’t much to complain about when it comes to the attractiveness of the women here.
Where you will find there is quite a bit of diversity here with women of white, black, indigenous and Arab backgrounds. So if there is a particular type of woman you prefer, you can find it here.
And while their bodies are not the best in Colombia compared to places like Cali, they definitely are sexy enough for any man to be satisfied.
One other thing is that it seems to me in my experience here that plastic surgery isn’t as common here as in other parts of Colombia. Women have more naturally nice bodies. So depending on your preference when it comes to plastic surgery, that could be a positive or a negative.
Moving beyond that, divorce rates here are not the best on this list but not bad either as the department of Córdoba reported 217 divorces and 173 separations.
Additionally, the city is not the most attractive city in general. It has a river nearby that stinks a bit and is not the most physically attractive
On the other hand, Monteria does have a few nice parks worth visiting and some other green spaces
But not much else that I saw that was interesting
When it comes to safety, it’s similar to a few other cities on here in that nothing happened to me but it felt shady in a few areas
So not the best area to raise a family either as also I didn’t find as many impressive details about the resources that this city has for raising a family
So in short – the main benefits to this city are that the women seem more faithful here, there are a few green spaces and parks in the city worth visiting and divorce rates are not bad.
City 10: Bogota
Finally, the city that I have called home for some time now
The capital of Colombia and honestly the best city in Colombia in my personal opinion
First, this city has plenty of things to offer with so many touristy places to visit and plenty of parks as well
It also has a lot of nearby touristy spots outside the city that are worth a visit also
Moreover, it has plenty of hospitals, schools and decent neighborhoods to live in that are calm and quiet for raising a family
On top of that, it even has an international airport, making your occasional trip back to the US easier and shorter than some of the other cities on the list
So when it comes to raising a family, I’d consider Bogota one of the better cities in Colombia overall in my opinion
I’d personally say the best but I’m sure people who live in Medellin would disagree
Well, we’ll agree to disagree
Regardless, the women in this city also are quite nice as well
First, there are plenty of women here who are very attractive and know how to dress well in public
On top of that, given that it’s a big city, there’s so many of them to choose
Giving you plenty of options for finding a nice beautiful faithful wife in Colombia
Compared to other Colombian cities in general – like Barranquilla, Pereira or Cali – the women are much more faithful here
However, when compared to other cities on this specific list, the women in Bogota are by far not the most faithful
I wouldn’t say cheating is terrible in this city when compared to other large Colombian cities but it is worse here than in other specific cities on this list like Popayán, Riohacha, Yopal or Valledupar.
Additionally, there’s more casual sex here than in other cities on this list and there’s also more careerist women
Though you can easy enough find a woman here who isn’t careerist and isn’t sleeping around a lot
Finally, divorce rates are worse in this city than anywhere else in the country with 5,463 divorces and 5,770 seperatons reported in 2017
Keep in mind though that this city is much larger than all of the other cities reported on this list
For example, Bogota has a population of over 8 million while Popayán and Valledupar have over 400,000 people, Yopal has over 118,000 people and Bucaramanga has over 500,000 people.
And the other cities on this list are just as small when compared to Bogota
So that detail should be kept in mind so that we are fair in our understanding of this topic
Regardless, it is true that Bogota has a more liberal culture in general and traditional values are not as strong here
In the end, it’s a great city that has plenty to offer but is lower on this list because of some of the problems mentioned above
As said, it’s definitely better than all the other “major” cities in Colombia (Medellin, Cali, Cartagena, Barranquilla, etc) but it’s not the best city for finding a faithful and beautiful wife when compared to the cities on this list.
Overall
As you may have noticed, I kept this list to only 10 cities and excluded the last two. That’s because I initially had doubts about the last two mentioned but for the most part feel confident in them.
So I kept them out anyway just to focus on the first 10 that I believe will serve you well in finding a faithful wife. If you wish to expand your options, then I’d definitely recommend Pasto and Ibagué if you have the additional time after checking out the first 10 recommended already.
