When I first arrived to Colombia in 2006, I didn’t know anybody and didn’t speak very good Spanish
And at that moment in my life, I hadn’t traveled very much either outside of my home country – the US
So when I arrived to the Colombian city of Barranquilla, it was quite the eye opener for me – exposing me to an entirely new country
A new culture
And plenty of amazing, sexy Colombian women
The same women that I would end up going to the bar with and being their first “American” that they had kissed
Or the sexy Colombian women I saw dancing down the street during one of the world’s biggest carnivals – the Barranquilla Carnival
While then enjoying some of the Caribbean beaches nearby and the sight of beautiful Colombian women in bikinis
Suffice to say, Barranquilla really offered more than I expected when it came to the beauty of its women
And was one of the reasons why I chose to return to Barranquilla in 2008 after I had finished college
And is one of the reasons why I believe Barranquilla is the right city for you to try out as part of your initial experience traveling to Colombia
Because for those with absolutely no experience in Colombia but hoping to get laid, there are numerous cities in Colombia you can try
And none of them are a bad choice
Pereira, Bogota, Medellin, Barranquilla, Cartagena, Manizales, etc
Now to be fair, some cities would be a bit much for a beginner to Colombia or Latin America more broadly
Cities like Cali for example would be a bit rougher around the edges for someone new to traveling to a country like Colombia
Though of the cities mentioned above, I believe Barranquilla is one of the better options to try out first
Now I might be biased to a degree since I have more nostalgia for my first year in Colombia and that was where I spent it in Barranquilla
But here are 10 reasons why you should spend some time in Barranquilla as part of your first trip to Colombia to get laid with the sexy women in this beautiful country
I could come up with a hundred reasons even but then this article would be over 20,000 words long so let’s keep it short 😉
Now ready to learn why Barranquilla is a good choice for you, your budget and your excitement to meet sexy women?

Reason 1: Foreign Exotic Value
As mentioned in this other article I wrote, foreigners in Colombia have a certain “foreign exotic value” that you get for simply being the foreigner in the country
Now as I will emphasize always when mentioning this – no, being the exotic white foreigner from the US will not get you laid here
You still have to bring something to the table and be a man that women desire
But it does give you a leg up for being a foreigner in Colombia but it also depends on where you live in Colombia.
For example, in Bogota, the women here don’t really care as much if you are a foreigner. It’s kinda cool but it’s not as big of a leg up
Then you have Medellin where it can actually be a negative at first when she isn’t sure if you are a sex tourist or not given how many sex tourist go to Medellin on a yearly basis
Then you have cities like Pasto where your foreign exotic value really goes up given the lack of foreigners there
In Barranquilla, your foreign exotic value is better than most of the other largest cities in Colombia but it’s not the best you can get in Colombia
However, for a city of its size (given Barranquilla is one of the bigger Colombian cities), it’s more than fair.
You would expect more foreigners in Barranquilla and your foreign exotic value to be lower but it’s not because tourists mostly visit during the Barranquilla Carnival
So overall, you get quite a bit of value for being a foreigner here
And it serves as a nice leg up when it comes to getting laid with sexy Colombian women
Reason 2: Barranquilla Carnival
The Barranquilla Carnival is one of the biggest carnivals in the world and it is a time when Colombian women really want to celebrate
Both in the streets and in the sheets
And it is by far the wildest party of Colombia in general
So if you want to really get wild and have a great time with Colombian women, this is the party in the right city to visit
It’s such a great opportunity to meet and get laid with Colombian women that I wrote a very long guide on the subject

And enjoy all the women and the festival that the foreigners spending all their time in Medellin are missing 😉
Reason 3: Easy Access to Women to the Caribbean Coast
Now Barranquilla is located right along the Caribbean Coast of Colombia
Along this coast, you will find much smaller cities that are not at all touristy but have plenty of sexy women
And then you have bigger and more touristy cities that also have plenty of sexy women to have fun with also
Cities like Santa Marta or Cartagena for example
Barranquilla is one of those few cities in Colombia in my experience where it is relatively easier to pull women from nearby cities
The only other city that rivals Barranquilla in this regard is Pereira given its closeness to cities like Manizales for example
And even though you can pull women from nearby cities in other Colombian cities, it’s not as common or easy in my experience
For whatever reason, Barranquilla is simply one of those few cities in this country where it is much easier to do so
Perhaps because both Santa Marta and Cartagena are decent sized cities with plenty of easy women to work with
Either way, this extra access to nearby women definitely gives it a leg up in my opinion
I remember back in 2008 when I returned to Barranquilla…
Where I met women from nearby cities after I already had some experience in Barranquilla and realized I could do this
In which beautiful Colombian women from places like Santa Marta were traveling to see me from time to time
Of course, for a woman to travel to see you, she has to be more interested in you than normal
But given that you are more of a exotic foreigner in Barranquilla, that does give you a leg up for that purpose
As long as you don’t lack social skills, speak Spanish and know how to text well, you can pull women easy enough from these nearby areas
Meaning more Colombian pussy for you
And plenty of it
Reason 4: Enjoyable Areas to Visit for Couples
One of the things I love about Barranquilla (and also Pereira) is that there are plenty of nice places to take a nice woman.
Now I don’t treat just any woman on a nice trip – most don’t deserve it since most are just hookups and that’s it
But I have met the occasional woman I really enjoyed spending time with in Colombia and sometimes you just want to spend a nice week with her
To some place really nice in Colombia
One thing that is great about Barranquilla is that it has endless amounts of beaches nearby where you can take her
Or you can enjoy some of the nature and hiking trails nearby also
Which is similar to Pereira also given that Pereira also has plenty of nice hiking trails and sightseeing to enjoy
So similar to Pereira, Barranquilla also has plenty of nice vacation spots to enjoy with a Colombian woman you really like
And as written about in this article I wrote, here are numerous beaches you can enjoy with a nice Colombian woman that is special to you
Which I prefer to hiking since it is more relaxing and is easier to enjoy the moment with a few drinks on top of that 😉
Reason 5: Less Tourism
As hinted at earlier in this article, there is less tourism in Barranquilla than other Colombian cities.
That is overall nice for me personally because I generally like places that have less tourism
Which, to be fair, is a bit ironic given I live in Bogota now where there is plenty of tourism
Anyway…
Less tourism is generally a plus for me because overall the experience feels more authentic to me
And so while this doesn’t have so much to do this getting laid, it has more to do with the overall experience of living there in Barranquilla
Since easiness to getting laid is not the only thing you should consider
I could show you for example some place where you could get laid with 10 chicks a month but if you hate the area I mention, then you probably wouldn’t show up
So it is important to consider the quality of the city you are going to
And one thing about Barranquilla that is enjoyable outside the women is the authenticity and lack of tourism in the city
Where there are less people looking to make money off the tourist dollar and you are getting harassed less in the street
Where things are more chill and enjoyable overall when it comes to living there
Reason 6: Easier to Adapt to Rest of Country with Spanish
This is another thing to consider when it comes to getting an “introduction” to Colombia and not so much concerning the women
I remember after I had spent so many months in Barranquilla, I decided to visit Medellin
When I finally left the Caribbean Coast, it was incredibly easy to understand Colombians from other parts of Colombia
Like Medellin, Bogota, Pereira, etc
Why?
Because the Spanish that people in Barranquilla and the Caribbean Coast is much harder to understand than elsewhere in Colombia or most of Latin America
That is because of the accent they have in this part of Colombia.
People speak faster, cut their words and overall were much more difficult to understand
When I had left this part of Colombia, I found it so much easier to understand people elsewhere
So in a way, you could consider this a positive and a negative
A positive because it makes you “rough it out” so to speak
Where if you can understand what people are saying here, you can basically understand people anywhere
Except maybe folks in the Dominican Republic!
Anyway, jokes aside…
But I can see how you would see this as a negative because if your Spanish is non-existent, this place would be much more difficult to understand the women and get laid
My best advice is to get your Spanish to a conversational level beforehand.
Once you do that after a few months of learning Spanish, it will still be tough for you
But possible to begin understanding what the women say here
And as referenced in this article, there are ways in which you can meet women in Colombia before your trip and improve your Spanish greatly beforehand
In which once you do that and then experience the Spanish spoken in Barranquilla, it really will help you progress with Spanish along the way
Where people speaking Spanish elsewhere will be nothing to what you have heard in Barranquilla or the Caribbean Coast
All around it helped me improve my Spanish greatly living here and can help you too
And along the way – perhaps meet and have some fun with some sexy Colombian women here 😉
Reason 7: Local Dudes Are Great
Out of anywhere in Colombia, the dudes in Barranquilla can be great drinking buddies and also friends in life in general
In short, I found the guys here to be much friendlier
I have had moments where random people approached me in public places like waiting for the bus or at a restaurant
And where we talk and ultimately exchange numbers to go out for drinks later and shoot the shit
In my experience, dudes in Barranquilla are easy to get along with, chat with, have a few beers with and even go out and meet chicks with
Same could be said for Cartagena and Santa Marta also (or the broader Caribbean Coast)
Much better than anywhere else I have been to in Colombia
And that can help you overall in getting laid in this country
While also making some friends so you are not so lonely either
Reason 8: Hookup Culture is a Good Balance
What do I mean by this?
Well, in some cities like Medellin for example, hookup culture is much stronger and it would be much harder to find a faithful Colombian woman to settle down in
Now Barranquilla isn’t the best city to find a woman like that in Colombia
For that, check out this article I wrote here for alternative places to find the right woman to settle down with in Colombia
But Barranquilla isn’t terrible either in this category
It’s more of a solid mix where you can easily find some nice woman to hookup with or you could with some reasonable effort find someone to settle down with
Which, overall, makes this city a decent place for just about any man – the serious guy or the fun bachelor
Reason 9: Not as Expensive
If your budget is tight while trying to get laid in Colombia, Barranquilla is overall budget friendly
When factoring in the size of the city and everything it has to offer, it should be more expensive to live here
But it’s not!
You get a great deal for a relatively cheaper cost of living when compared to cities like Medellin or Bogota where it’s more expensive
Even nearby Cartagena is a bit more expensive also
So overall, you get a great deal by living here and is better suited for the traveling bachelor who needs to save money while getting laid in this beautiful country
Reason 10: The Vibrant Culture
There are a few cities that really stick out in my mind for having a much more vibrant culture – Barranquilla or Cali for example
In Barranquilla, as you can already imagine by the Barranquilla Carnival, has a very vibrant culture
Where people are much friendlier here and it serves as a great place to party also
While Bogota for example has plenty of great nightlife venues also, the people there are a bit colder and more distant
People in Medellin to some degree are a bit similar to folks in Medellin but not as cold or distant in my experience
In my opinion from what I have seen, folks in Barranquilla or Cali really are some of the most vibrant and engaging people I have met in Colombia
And mix in the party atmosphere you get during certain times of the year – and Barranquilla is really a enjoyable place to visit
Especially when you consider some of the nightlife venues that are really vibrant as well like La Troja where you have over a hundred people or more dancing in the street
And mixed in that crowd of people are plenty of sexy Colombian women that you can dance with and have a good time with
All around making this city one of the best places to visit in Colombia for beginners that want to get laid in Colombia and enjoy the sexy women this country has to offer
