Just last year, I was in Santa Marta — which is a decent city that has plenty of beaches nearby and decent nightlife for dating Colombian women in Santa Marta
And while I was there, I was sitting on the beach with my current girlfriend at one point.
Staying at the Tayrona National Park with crystal blue waves in front of us, it felt like paradise.
Looking up at the sky, not a cloud in sight as the sun bathed down on us
And for us, this was just one of many beaches that we got to enjoy while in Santa Marta
The following day, we went to a big event that was held on one of the nearby beaches
Where there was live music playing and plenty of beer passed around
Exactly the way it has been every time I have gone back to Santa Marta
A city full of sex, beaches and vibrant music with a decent nightlife
And plenty of options for dating Colombian women in Santa Marta
What else would you need to be happy here?
Welcome to Santa Marta
First: Basic Facts
Located on the Caribbean Coast, Santa Marta is one of the few amazing cities to visit in this part of Colombia.
While Cartagena is known for its nightlife and historical sites and Barranquilla is known for its amazingcarnival once a year….
Santa Marta is better known for all of its amazing beaches and natural scenery
This is one of the best cities to travel to if you are already in a serious relationship and would like to spend anunforgettable weekend with someone nice
If you ever plan on visiting this city of 500,000 people, make sure to bring some sunscreen as you will need it
With how hot it is here, you will want to buy a lot of water also to stay hydrated
Along with Cartagena and Barranquilla, Santa Marta is one of the hottest cities I have been to in Colombia
Which might explain why a lot of the sexy women here feel more comfortable showing a bit more skin
Nothing wrong with that while enjoying life on a nice beach with beautiful blue waves in front of you and a nice beeror two
Second: Safety
There really isn’t too much crime in Santa Marta overall.
In my experience, I felt safer in Santa Marta than in other Colombian cities like Bogota and especially when compared to a place like Cali.
Overall, you shouldn’t worry too much about violent crime here and make sure to watch your belongings so that they don’t get stolen like in anywhere else.
Third: Spanish?
Generally speaking, I find the women in Santa Marta to speak less English than in other Colombian cities. Compared to the nearby cities of Barranquilla and Cartagena, I found more English speakers here than in Barranquilla but less in Cartagena.
Therefore, I’d say you’d have a more difficult time with the women here with no Spanish and you’d probably be better off in a city like Cartagena, Medellin or Bogota if you speak no Spanish.
However, if you speak enough Spanish to hold a conversation, then you won’t have any problem here.
In the end, you will need some Spanish to begin dating Colombian women in Santa Marta
And if you want to improve your Spanish, try using this useful textbook or this phrasebook to help you get started. If you still have trouble with Spanish after that, having a translator for your dates with Colombian women can also be helpful
Fourth: Demographics
The demographics of Santa Marta is a bit similar to what you will see in nearby cities of Barranquilla and Cartagena.
For the most part, the women in the city tend to be black and have darker skin overall but there is also a decent mix of white and indigenous people in the area also.
So easier to say a heavy mix of white, indigenous and black with darker skin overall.
Fifth: Attractiveness
The attractiveness of the women in Santa Marta is very similar to Cartagena and Barranquilla.
However, there are some differences.
First, I find the women in Santa Marta to be friendlier than the women in Cartagena but not as friendly as the women in Barranquilla.
The likely reason for this is that Cartagena is by far a very touristy city while Barranquilla is not.
Therefore, in my experience anyway, women from more touristy cities tend to be less friendly than women from cities that have less tourism.
Part of that is likely due to the fact that your value as a foreigner is higher in a place like Barranquilla but not as high as Cartagena
With Santa Marta right in between those two
Moreover, the women here are equally not as afraid to show off their skin and dress with less clothing due to the intense heat.
Compared to Cartagena, I generally saw fewer prostitutes in the street here and the women also had a lot less plastic surgery.
Therefore, it will be easier to find more normal chicks here with a less plastic surgery.
Overall, I’d say that the women here are fairly attractive.
They may not be as attractive as some of the women in places like Pereira but the sexiness of the women in Santa Marta will keep you just as happy as anywhere else
Sixth: Nightlife
Compared to other Colombian cities, I found the women here to be more open to being approached in bars or nightclubs
In addition to that, there are less prostitutes here compared to cities like Medellin, which makes it easier to find more normal chicks at night
If you want to find some sexy Colombians chicks here at night, I’d recommend the following places:
1. El Mirador: A very popular club that offers a great view of the city and its water.
2. La Brisa Loca: This place has the best rooftop by far in the city and has a great mix of Colombians and foreigners dancing here to a decent selection of music.
3. Charlies Bar: This place has good customer service – possibly one of the best in Santa Marta. Very friendly staff. Great drinks too with outdoor seating.
4. La Puerta: This place often got full whenever I showed up. Prices are reasonable and you will find plenty of local women here who are down for something casual.
5. La Escollera: This club has a great selection of reggaeton music and has plenty of chicks that are open to being approached. One thing to note is that it is a little more expensive here.
6. La Bodeguita Pirata: This place is also a bit more relaxed and a good place to sit down and have a good drink. Prices are fair but not the cheapest compared to other places.
7. La Azotea: This bar has a great rooftop area with decent music. It is also ideal for those who want to visit a place that has more local people and not as many tourists or expats.
8. Parque de los Novios: This is an area that has plenty of bars nearby to visit. Great to visit if you have never been to Santa Marta before and would like to try a few different places in your first night here to see what you like and don’t.
9. El Watusi Bar: This place is great for taking a girl to for something more relaxed compared to other bars in Santa Marta. The only issue I have with this bar is that the drinks can be a bit small with too much ice.
10. Crab’s Bar: This is one of my favorite places in Santa Marta due to its good selection of rock music. I generally prefer places that have good rock music and this place does it well and by far the best in the city.
Seventh: Daygame
One thing to keep in mind is that Santa Marta is a relatively small city compared to other Colombian cities like Cartagena
For that reason, you have less public places to find chicks during the day
Given the amount of beaches here, they make an obvious choice for finding and dating Colombian women in Santa Marta
Furthermore, there is also a mall in Santa Marta called Buenavista Mall. I found the women there to be more receptive to being approached and friendlier in general.
There were a few other places too – Centro Comercial Zazue Plaza, Ocean Mall and Centro Comercial Arrecife.
Among all of these malls to visit, I’d say Buenavista Mall is by far the best. Outside of that, Centro Comercial Arrecife also had the greatest amount of approachable and friendly women.
The other two places – Ocean Mall and Centro Comercial Zazue Plaza were not as good but still alright options for approaching women during the day.
Eighth: Online Game
Compared to other Colombian cities like Bogota or Cartagena, there seems to be a lot less chicks who use Tinder and other online dating tools
For that reason, I don’t think online game here is the best when it comes to dating Colombian women in Santa Marta
On the other hand, you will see less prostitutes here in my experience using Tinder than in other Colombian cities like Medellin
Therefore, it’s easier to meet a normal girl here on Tinder
….Only that it seems there are less of them overall using Tinder in Santa Marta
Regardless, online game isn’t totally worthless in Santa Marta and I’d recommend you give it a try before showing up to this city.
At the very least you can get a few girls interested in you before showing up and then go from there to focusing on meeting girls during the day and night.
And outside of Tinder, make sure to check out Colombian Cupid as it has plenty of decent women on there ready to meet a nice man.

Ninth: Restaurants
Fortunately, Santa Marta has a few good places for steak. Maybe not as good as Pereira but still decent.
So for steak I’d recommend you visit 13 Reses Steakhouse and Mr. Beef.
Between the two, I’d recommend 13 Reses Steakhouse since I find the food to taste better and I believe the prices are more reasonable.
If you want a nice hamburger, Radio Burger is another good place too. The burgers here are not amazing but the best you will find in Santa Marta in my opinion.
In addition, Isola Sarda and Di Vino are great options for Italian food in Santa Marta.
In fact, I’d say Italian food is probably better done than almost any other type of food in this city.
It’s better done and the prices are still very reasonable.
Finally, there were a few cafes in this city that I really enjoyed.
My favorite café in this city is Valeria’s Coffee & Pub and also Café Caribe.
Tenth: Hotels
Personally, I enjoy more the hotels you can find in Santa Marta than in some other cities in Colombia.
The quality of the hotels here seems to be a bit higher and goes well with the nearby beaches that are everywhere for you to enjoy.
So which hotels should you stay at in Santa Marta?
I’d recommend Hotel Tamaca Beach Resort, Del Mar Hotel and Hotel Boutique Casa Carolina.
My personal favorite is the first one – Hotel Tamaca Beach Resort.
Great place for spending a night with a nice Colombian woman that you are serious with
And all of these places are pretty reasonably priced for what they offer.
Final Thoughts
In my opinion, Santa Marta is a better city for taking a girl that you are already serious with to enjoy a nice weekend at oneof the many beaches near Santa Marta.
Although there are plenty of sexy chicks in this city to approach, other Colombian cities nearby like Barranquilla or Cartagena are quite better overall.
With that said, don’t hesitate to stop by Santa Marta anytime
