Over a decade ago, I first visited Colombia by studying abroad here and eventually visited a city called Medellin. Fortunately, I experienced how great it was dating Colombian girls in Medellin.
During that time, the city was a little more dangerous than it was today.
There were fewer tourists also.
There were also fewer people who spoke English, making Spanish even more necessary.
However, there was one thing that has not changed over the years: the sexy women.
From then to today, the women in Medellin have always been some of the most attractive in the country.
During that first trip to Medellin, an area called El Poblado was the place I went too often to meet girls.
Day or night, there were always great girls in the area.
At the time, it felt like shooting fish in a barrel.
One girl after another.
Endless amounts of sexy options for dating Colombian girls in Medellin.
A single man’s paradise.
Welcome to Medellin
First: Basic Facts
By far, one of the most popular and touristy cities in Medellin.
Known for its heavy violence many years ago, Medellin has changed into a city with lots of tourism.
The city is also known as “the city of eternal spring” due to its nice weather that most find pleasant. It is located in the Aburra Valley of the Andres Mountains.
Also, the population of the city is about 2.5 million people.
Second: Safety
Generally, you will be very safe in Medellin compared to other Colombian cities like Pereira.
In my time here, I found it to be one of the safest cities in Colombia.
That isn’t to say that there isn’t danger or crime here.
Plenty of it.
But it’s not as bad as it could be.
The city is generally safe enough to feel comfortable the parts of that city that you are likely to visit for tourism or nightlife fun.
There are just a few things to mention when it comes to safety from my experience:
First, always watch your drinks when going out with a girl.
Not saying it’s more common here but I’ve met more foreigners here who had their drinks drugged than in other Colombian cities.
Part of the reason is that it is well known that Medellin is a popular city for foreigners looking for casual fun with the women here.
Therefore, it attracts more shady people who will have sexy women drug your drink and stealing your stuff later.
Second, always take taxis when leaving the bar.
Even though it’s a little bit safer here than places like Cali, you don’t want to be walking outside at night alone.
Third: Spanish?
Medellin is one of those cities in Colombia where you do not necessarily need Spanish to find a Colombian woman here for something casual or serious.
Given the amount of tourism in the city, you have a lot more people here who speak English at an OK level.
It won’t always be easy to understand their English but it’s not seemingly impossible to find a woman here who speaks English like in other Colombian cities.
However, like with any city in Latin America, I always strongly recommend you learn Spanish to a conversational level.
The quality of women you will get if you speak some Spanish is always better than if you do not speak any Spanish.

Fourth: Demographics
The women in Medellin are known as paisas.
Compared to cities like Cali, the women here are much whiter looking.
In general, you will find a lot more white or mestizo women here than anything else.
There are some black women here also but it’s not that much.
Fifth: Attractiveness
In my opinion, the women in Medellin are the most attractive women you will find in the city.
For that reason, this city has been flooded with tourists for a decent amount of time now.
Most of them just looking for sex.
In that regard, you will find that the women here are relatively easy enough to have something casual with.
However, due to the reputation that foreigners have, it is not as easy as it use to be and will require some more work than other Colombian cities like Pereira or Cali.
You will also notice that plastic surgery is very common here.
Plenty of women have body enhancements.
In addition, you will find very beautiful women here even in areas that are not as affluent or nice.
For that reason, you can go to more normal malls or less touristy areas of the city to find nice women.
The only other thing to mention is that very often backpackers or other foreigners will sometimes exaggerate the beauty of the women here.
Despite some of the exaggerations you see, they are definitely some of the most attractive women in the country with the women in Pereira being the second best city.
Sixth: Nightlife
Unfortunately, nightlife is not the best way to meet women in Medellin in my experience.
In fact, it is arguably the worst way to do it.
One of the primary reasons being is that this city has so many foreign tourists who visit here for nightlife and women.
In this case, foreign men generally have a bad reputation for only looking for casual sex and then leaving the women.
Therefore, due to the increased attention women get here and because of the bad reputation foreigners get, nightlife is not ideal for meeting women.
For that reason, I find it better to meet women during the day or online and then taking them to a bar.
Fortunately, the nightlife here is arguably one of the best in the whole country.
For me, it’s difficult to say which city has better nightlife to my tastes – Medellin or Bogota.
Regardless, here are some places I recommend:
Babylon: A decent place to visit for Thursdays.
Palmahia: Consists of a group of clubs with mostly tables. Great place to take a girl to due to the decent amount of options.
Blue Bar: Was a little bit more crowded during the few times I have been here. Overall it’s decent with decent options in terms of alcohol. The only thing I didn’t like was the service.
Ruana de Juana: Decent place but the women here were never as good as in other places.
Barrio Colombia: Great place with different clubs. A decent amount of women also who seemed more receptive to being approached than in other areas.
Son Havana: Great place for dancing and has good alcohol options also.
Luxury Club: Great place for music and the girls here are very attractive.
Bendito Seas: Very close to Babylon and has a decent amount of women.
Rio Sur: There is a shopping center called Rio Sur that has several clubs above it. It’s a bit more upscale and decent to take a girl to.
Parque Lleras: Has some decent bars in the area and is a bit more known for its tourism than other parts of Medellin. If you want to meet other foreigners in this area, one bar to visit is the Patrick’s Irish Pub. Has good food too and a decent place to watch sports.
Seventh: Daygame
Daygame is one of the better ways to meet women in Medellin in my opinion.
In my experience, there are more foreigners dating Colombian girls in Medellin here at the bars than during the day.
In that regard, the women here are going to be more receptive to being approached during the day than at any club or bar.
For example, Parque Lleras is actually much better to meet and dating Colombian girls in Medellin during the day.
Similar to other parts of Colombia, approaching women at the mall is always one of the better ways to do it.
For example, some of the best malls in the area known as El Poblado are El Tesoro, Oviedo or Santa Fe.
The main issue though that you will have with approaching women in more touristy areas like in the malls around El Poblado is that they are more likely to think you only want sex.
For that reason, you’d be better off going to malls or public places in areas of the city that are safe but also less touristy.
For example, Parque Sabaneta is a pretty good place to approach women.
I’d also recommend Estacion Universidad. In this area, you have multiple places you can approach women.
You have Parque Explora, Jardin Botanico, the University of Antioquia and more.
Outside of that, you can also try the National Palace Mall or Unicentro in Laureles.
Furthermore, I would sometimes go to different soccer games in the city and meet people there as well.
Not only will there be some women to approach but you can enjoy a good game also and experience the culture in the city at the same time.
Overall, I highly recommend daygame over meeting women during the night at bars.
Eighth: Online Game
In comparison to daygame and meeting women at bars, online game is your second best way of meeting women in Medellin.
It’s better than meeting women during the night but not as good as meeting them during the day.
One of the reasons for that is that there are plenty of foreigners using Tinder for dating Colombian girls in Medellin.
And as said before, many of those foreigners have the bad reputation of only looking for sex.
Regardless, you can still meet girls here by Tinder without too much problem.
Quite simply, your main challenge to them is going to be overcoming the bad reputation that is out there.
Outside of that, there isn’t too much issue in my opinion.
Additionally, I also found more women on Tinder who spoke an OK amount of English than the women who I met during the day.
This was likely due to the amount of foreigners some of them have been interacting with online.
Therefore, if your Spanish is quite limited, you will find it a little bit easier to find women who can speak some English by Tinder than in normal malls.
Overall, Tinder isn’t a bad option but it is not great either.
And outside of Tinder, make sure to check out Colombian Cupid as it has plenty of decent women on there ready to meet a nice man.

Ninth: Restaurants
Similar to my other city guides, I mostly focus on steakhouse, Mexican or Italian food.
At this point, some of you may be wondering if that’s all I eat.
Well…..perhaps.
In regards to steak, I’d recommend Toro Restaurante.
On top of that, I’m always a fan of Argentine themed restaurants.
Therefore, how could I not recommend Bariloche Parrilla Argentina?
For Mexican food, a decent cheap option is Chilaquiles.
La Taqueria is good too. The staff at this restaurant is also a bit nice.
However, my favorite Mexican restaurant is La Bronca. Has good alcohol options and the food is great also.
Regarding Italian food, I don’t remember any Italian places that had really great Italian food.
However, there were a few that were decent. One is called Pizzeria and another is called Il Castello.
The last one having better service in my experience but both places are decent.
Finally, I also recommend a place called The Greek Connection.
This place has good Mediterranean food and decent service. Prices are reasonable also.
Tenth: Hotels
In my experience, hotels have always been a little more expensive in Medellin than some of the other cities in Colombia.
Again, mostly because of the tourism in the city and how much nicer it is here also.
Regardless, you can find some quality hotels here at decent prices.
Given that I have traveled a bit to Medellin in the past, I do have some experience with hotels here.
Based on my experience, I’d recommend Maloka Hotel, Hotel Florencia Plaza or 61 Prado Guesthouse.
These are some of the cheaper options that still have decent enough quality.
However, if you are willing to spend a little more money per night, a few of the nicer hotels are
Hotel Sites 45 or Novotel Medellin El Tesoro.
Both of the last two options are also not as expensive as what you would pay in the US normally but offer good quality deals in my opinion.
Final Thoughts
Even though Medellin is not as easy of a city compared to my first visit over a decade ago, it still has much to offer.
The women are still some of the best in the country physically.
There are plenty of women who are open to something casual.
Plenty of options for dating Colombian girls in Medellin.
And the nightlife in Medellin is one of the best you can find in Colombia.
Come to Medellin anytime and you too can enjoy this city for its weather, tourist attractions, nightlife and the women.
They call it “a city of eternal spring.”
