In my experience living in Colombia, I have met a lot of men who have traveled to Colombia to enjoy life dating Colombian girls in Popayán
Plenty of them are mostly looking for something casual at first
However, some of the older ones who have already had more casual sex when they were younger want something more serious
They want a nice chick who they can have a nice life with
And for those who come to Colombia only looking for something casual?
Well, most of them head back to their home country.
However, for those who stay living in Colombia long term, like me, we end up losing some interest in just looking for casual sex
Casual sex is nice but it becomes a little bit less important in your life as you get older
And ultimately, many of these guys, such as me, begin to look for something serious
And they wonder – is it possible to find a more serious girl in Colombia who can be faithful and have a nice life and familywith?
Well, in some cities in Colombia, like Pereira, Cali or Medellin, it’s going to be a little more difficult
In part because there’s a lot more infidelity there and a lot more women just looking for something casual and fun
However, in some parts of Colombia that are not as well known, there are women who are more conservative
Women who are more likely to be faithful and want a nice life and family with a guy
And not just casual fun
And one of those places that I am referring to is a small city known as Popayán
Try dating the Colombian girls in Popayán and you may quickly find a feminine, beautiful and feminine wife to settle down with
Welcome to Popayán
First: Basic Facts
In this small humid city of just a little over 300,000 people, Popayán is a place well known for being very beautiful as the “white city” of Colombia. This reputation comes from the abundance of well-preserved white colonial buildings that existwithin the city.
When arriving to this humid city, you will enjoy some of the historical places in the city, such as the Inglesia de San Francisco or many of the white colonial buildings.
There is also the clock tower in the city, known as Torre de Reloj, which was built in the late 1600s
The clock tower can be seen next to a famous Cathedral known as Catedral Nuestra Señora de La Asunción
Additionally, there is the Puente del Humilladero, which is an historic bridge built in 1873
Outside of historical areas, there’s also a nice area to visit known as Parque Natural De Puracé
Which is a beautiful park that is nice to spend time in
Another park to visit is Parque Caldas, which is a good place to relax and also meet new people who spend time there
And these are just some of the few places you should visit while there in Popayán
Second: Safety
This is a nice little city that doesn’t have that much crime in my experience. Whenever I walked outside, I never felt too unsafe.
I also never saw a very strong police presence there either but I don’t saw any crime either.
Nothing bad has ever happened to me in this city.
So overall, this city is nice and safe enough to not worry too much.
Just apply common sense and normal caution when you are dating Colombian girls in Popayán
Third: Spanish?
In all of my visits to Popayán, I never met a single girl here who spoke decent English.
If you are going to spend time in this city for dating Colombian girls in Popayán, you are going to need to learn Spanish to at least a conversational level.
Outside of the women, there isn’t a very strong tourism industry in this city either compared to other cities like Medellin.
For that reason, most of the people here in Popayán, including the women, do not speak much English
So if you plan on visiting this nice city, start learning Spanish!
And if you want to improve your Spanish, try using this useful textbook or this phrasebook to help you get started. If you still have trouble with Spanish after that, having a translator for your dates with Colombian women can also be helpful
Fourth: Demographics
The women that I saw here were generally speaking more brown looking and some white looking chicks also. So mostly brown or white from my experience dating Colombian girls in Popayán.
Fifth: Attractiveness
The women here are definitely attractive.
Not too many overweight women.
They generally speaking have very good bodies that are not too curvy but overall in great shape and look nice.
Additionally, the women here tend to dress a little more conservatively than the rest of the country. They don’t show as much skin.
Despite that, they still dress very nicely and know how to make themselves look good.
Furthermore, the women here are not as down for something casual when compared to the rest of the country.
In the same way that they dress more conservatively, they also are more conservative sexually.
Also, most of them will be living with their parents in a city like Popayán where everyone knows everyone.
For that reason alone, the women are definitely not open to being as casual because it is harder for them to do so and also because rumor could get around.
Not to mention that the culture there is generally more conservative anyway.
Therefore, while the women are very attractive here…
You are going to have a harder time having any casual fun while dating Colombian girls in Popayán
But would have an easier time finding a nice woman who would be willing to settle down and be more faithful than the women in other parts of Colombia.
Sixth: Nightlife
Similar to online game, nightlife is going to be your other option for finding something casual if that is what you want here.
Although Popayán is a small city and there is not too much nightlife, there are options.
Here are the 10 places I’d recommend if you want to enjoy the nightlife in Popayán:
1. La Iguana Afro Video Bar: This is probably one of the more popular bars in the city. It was usually active when I showed up. Plenty of chicks.
2. Mama Juana Tasca Show: Decent place also. Nice music. Only issue is the DJ I have seen there is not the best but still worth a visit.
3. Dubai Disco: This is a decent place also. Great service. Plenty of hot chicks also.
4. Motivos Video Bar: Another good place to sit down with friends or a girl and have some drinks for the night.
5. Space Club: This is a good place to dance in and has reasonable prices also for drinks. Maybe a little more expensive than other areas but still reasonable.
6. Popayán Beer & Co: One of my favorite places in the city. Great place to just sit down and have a beer with someone.
7. Retro Grill Rest-Bar: Out of all of these nightlife options, this place has the best food. Decent drinks too and very friendly staff who are not too slow. One of my favorite places for nightlife there.
8. Land Disco: Pretty good for dancing. Great atmosphere.
9. Conejitas Bar: Another place that had some decent chicks dancing when I showed up. Was able to bring one back to my place. Atmosphere is decent too with good music.
10. Tropical Club: Kind of a small place. Didn’t have that many people. Staff was friendly though and prices are cheap.
Out of these 10 options, my favorites are Popayán Beer & Co, Retro Grill Rest-Bar and Dubai Disco.
Seventh: Daygame
This is not really the type of city to be doing endless amounts of daygame in my opinion. Keep in mind that the city only has 300,000 people.
While 300,000 seems like a lot, it’s much smaller than it seems. Cities in Colombia tend to feel much smaller than what they actually are.
For that reason, it’s easier to get a reputation in a smaller city if you are out and about approaching all the women you see.
Now it’s not a bad thing to do but don’t go crazy doing daygame here in my opinion. The largest cities in Colombia are better for daygame without getting a reputation.
In Popayán, I am more conservative in who I approach so I don’t get a reputation
Additionally, as said before, the women here are more interested in something serious than something casual.
For that reason, this city is more for those looking to be here long term and find something serious. So when approaching women, you should have more of the mindset of trying to find a serious woman than just something casual.
So where should you approach them?
Well, Parque Caldas is a great place to start.
There are some other parks too, including El Quijote Park, Villa Docente Sotará Park and Benito Juarez Park.
Out of all of these parks, Parque Caldas and El Quijote Park were the best for me in terms of seeing more beautiful women more frequently.
Outside of parks, you also got a few shopping malls also. The main shopping mall that I would recommend is the Campanario Centro Comercial.
It is by far the most popular mall and the only one you need. There are others of course that you can research but you don’t need them. This mall has plenty of very beautiful girls.
Finally, there are universities. This city is quite well educated with a decent amount of students.
The main university you will want to go to is the University of Cauca. It’s one of the more popular universities in the city and has plenty of nice girls walking around.
There are of course other universities to visit if my memory serves well but this is really the main one that you are going to want to visit.
Therefore, there are plenty of places to approach nice women in Popayán.
Daygame is definitely an option but just don’t go crazy on it here.
And keep in mind you should probably focus more on finding a serious girl here than something casual when doing daygame.
Eighth: Online Game
While daygame is better for finding someone serious, online game does exist in Popayán and serves better for finding something casual here.
Given the fact that this is a small city in Colombia, you won’t find too many girls online unfortunately.
Especially when compared to bigger cities like Cali or Barranquilla
In addition, the women here are a little more conservative and so there are also fewer women even interested in things like Tinder.
However, there is still an alright amount of girls you can find on Tinder and elsewhere. If you are looking for something casual, you can find them online and there is an OK amount like that in Popayán.
And outside of Tinder, make sure to check out Colombian Cupid as it has plenty of decent women on there ready to meet a nice man.

Ninth: Restaurants
In my opinion, this is one of the worst parts about Popayán – the food.
In general, there are not that many restaurants in this city that have great food overall
However, there are a few that I enjoyed, such as…
Ibrik Café, which is my favorite café in this city. Very reasonable prices.
Mi Vaquita is another good place that has a lot of good pastries
Finally, there’s a nice relaxing café called Pinemma Café y Jardin
Finally, this place has a few decent Spanish and French restaurants.
For pizza, Restaurante Pizzeria Italiano is good
Also, Popayán has a few French restaurants. Given I don’t eat much French food, I’m not sure what qualifies as “good French food.”
Either way, Semilla Escondida had good food that is supposedly French and the prices are reasonable too. The staff was also very friendly.
Finally, there was a much more popular restaurant called Restaurante Carmina
Which was my favorite place to visit in Popayán. The customer service was great, pastries are good and it had a combination of food, including Italian, Spanish and French. It’s also located in the historic center, so it has a nice location too.
Tenth: Hotels
For hotels, I’d recommend first Hotel San Martin. They have great rooms, a nice pool and service is good also. Only downside is that it is a bit more expensive than most hotels in the city but worth the price in my opinion. Still cheaper than what you’d pay in the US.
La Plazuela Hotel is another great place that is centrally located. The hotel room is not as nice as Hotel San Martin but the hotel is much cheaper and still nice overall.
Finally, Hotel Dann Monasterio is a great place. Saving the best for last in this case. This hotel has great rooms and is centrally located with a swimming pool. The reason this hotel is the best in my opinion is because it also very well mixes the colonial charm of the city into the hotel itself. Compared to what you would pay in the US, prices are also very reasonable.
Final Thoughts
Overall, this small city in Colombia makes for a great place to someday settle down in as you can tell by the photos in TripAdvisor
It’s peaceful and quiet.
It doesn’t have too much crime.
While having plenty of nice places to visit
With a great historical legacy and well-preserved colonial buildings
And very importantly, it has plenty of well educated, beautiful women who are more interested in something serious than something casual
Something serious that could lead to a nice life and family together
If I didn’t want to live in a bigger city like Bogota, I’d probably be living in Popayán.
It’s arguably one of the better cities to live in Colombia in my opinion.
