- Enjoying Life Beyond Chicas & Cheap Beer in Colombia
Over the years of living in Colombia, so many men have come to this country to enjoy the chicas & cheap beer in Colombia
For those who don’t know, chicas meaning girls in Spanish
And all the chicas & cheap beer in Colombia has kept plenty of men satisfied with this country but over time they normally get tired of the fun
I have seen this most notably with one of my best friends made in Colombia
Going back to last year, I was sitting down at a bar called Pedro Mandinga Rum Bar in Bogota with a friend I had known for about 4 years in Colombia
He was a guy from Latvia whose name was Andris
This was his last weekend living in Colombia as he decided that he didn’t like living here anymore
When I initially met him, he loved this country for all of its chicas & cheap beer in Colombia
We would often go out drinking together and approaching women during the day and night to see what numbers we can get
For him, Colombia was paradise – a country of cheap booze and plenty of sexy Latinas who were easy to have sex with and who were comfortable showing off their bodies
What more could a man want?
Well, in the long run, a lot more
Because here’s the reality that not a lot of men realize when they first come to Colombia….
The chicas & cheap beer in Colombia is nice — especially when you are young
But it gets old after a while
Similar to Andris, a lot of men come to Colombia just because…
They want to drink and have sex with lots of women
That’s it
If you made all Colombian women ugly, I guarantee you it would take a massive hit against Colombia’s tourism industry
Even more so if you made the beer more expensive
For men like Andris, there is literally no other reason to be in Colombia
The nice parks, beaches and natural scenery? That’s cool but not important
The history and culture? That’s cool but not important
How about the cheap cost of living? Again, cool and important for many, but not the main motivation for staying here for a man like Andris
Over the year before Andris decided to leave, I noticed something started to change in him
And the things I noticed in Andris are the exact same things I notice in every single man who comes here looking to enjoy the party life
These are the reasons for why that life style gets old for most (though not all) men that decide to live it in Colombia
Reason 1: Desire to Settle Down
After a while of having casual sex, you start to desire something more in women
Because right after you have sex with another girl you met from Tinder or the bar, the same thing happens again
She gets up, everyone gets dressed, you have small talk with her and then out she goes
She is not coming back for you
In fact, she doesn’t give a damn about you
And none of the chicks you had sex with do
They have their own lives and no emotional attachment is there
After a while, you want that
You want someone who cares about you and who will be there for you when you are sick
Someone who you can share a life with and a family as well
Someone you can say to “remember that trip we took 5 years ago?”
And you know, I have met plenty of happy men that have traveled to Colombia using companies to find a nice, sweet and loyal Colombian wife — such as using Dream Connections
Those chicks you have casual sex with will often not even care if you died of cancer the next day
Let alone any of the things mentioned above
So you start to value finding someone you can share love, life and a family with — similar to the rest of Colombia as family is very important here as I described in another article
Reason 2: You Want to Dedicate More Time to Other Activities
After a while, you learn that all the time spent having casual sex isn’t helping you stay healthy
It’s not giving you muscle at the gym
It’s not helping you improve your income or anything like that
Now don’t get me wrong – there are major benefits to casual sex and learning how to deal with women on a romantic and sexual basis as any man should learn that
In my opinion, I believe most men should have that “phase” in their life where they do have plenty of casual sex and they learn how to deal with women romantically and sexually
That way they can learn a lot of important lessons when it comes to those topics and help get those experiences they want “out of their system” so to speak before they settle down
However, there comes a point where you do learn that and having even more casual sex isn’t going to add much more to your knowledge nor are you going to have new sexual experiences you didn’t before
Let’s say you had sex with 50 women. What would you possibly gain with having sex with another 50 that you didn’t in the first 50?
You already know how to get a woman to be romantically and sexually interested in you
You already have had most if not all of the sexual experiences you wanted
Great, you won!
Now go focus on building other aspects of your life – working out, improving your income, improving your mental health, forming new friendships, traveling and more
In the end, getting another 50 women in your life is just going to mean you can say you had sex with 100 women
Triple digits!
Here’s a secret – as you get older, nobody is going to care you had sex with 100 women
All your buddies you had beers with and went out to find women to have sex with?
Most of them get married and most of them, like Andris, get tired of the lifestyle
They move on, leaving you mostly alone with nobody to tell your story to
So in the end, you start to learn that another 50 (or whatever the number is for you) is not worth it when compared to the time that could be spent instead on any of the activities mentioned above
And as I said in another article on this website, improving yourself is very important — especially when it comes to dating and enjoying life in general
Reason 3: Becomes a Process
When you first start learning how to find someone to have casual sex with, you might be a bit nervous
You don’t know what to do
However, you learn pretty quickly over trial and error what works and what doesn’t
And as a result, it simply becomes a process each time you meet a new woman to have sex with
Which is boring
It becomes the same thing over and over again – meeting her somehow, getting the number, trying to decide if she is worth meeting for a date over the other options, setting up a date and flirting with her, having her meet you near your place, escalate and take her back to your place, sex or no sex
It becomes the same process over and over again and that gets boring and again makes you feel like you are wasting your time
Reason 4: Tired of Faking Interest
This one is simple – you just get tired of faking interest in a chick that you do not care about in anyway except for your desire to have sex with her
You get tired of asking and answering the same questions
You get tired of pretending to be interested in what she has to say but you really aren’t
It gets tiring
Reason 5: Tired of BS From Low Quality Chicks
Again, this one is pretty simple
Some chicks will do a bunch of dumb things that make you scratch your head and you get tired of dealing with
For example, she might give you attitude about giving up her phone number by asking you to somehow give her a reason as to why you deserve it
Which is just silly – if she does that, she’s not interested. She’s just treating you like a dancing monkey and you should gofind someone else because you are wasting your time with her
Or she flakes on you for a date
Whatever it may be, you get tired of seeing it
And as described in another article I wrote, there are certain types of low quality women to avoid in Colombia
Or there are some scams that some Colombian women will throw at you as described in this article
All of which gets old quickly
Reason 6: Jaded by Being a Witness to Infidelity & Toxic Behavior
In the last reason given, I was talking about behaviors by women who are just acting silly and immature
However, this reason deserves to be by itself given that it is on its own level
Where now we are talking about women who are unfaithful or show other toxic behaviors — as there are certain areas in Colombia where infidelity is a bit high as I described in another article
Because as you go through the different women in your life for casual sex, you will occasionally run across a chick here and there that actually has a boyfriend or is married
And in many cases, you may not even know she is married or has a boyfriend
I remember spending the night with a girl one time and her phone lighted up while she was sleeping
The phone had a notification on the screen that showed she got a text from a guy called “Mi Amor”
No, I didn’t read her phone’s texts or anything like that – it just showed up
And situations like that eventually happen the more girls you go through
Overall, you simply become jaded to being a witness to this toxic behavior and seeing how common infidelity seems to be
Reason 7: Colombia isn’t the Only Country with Women
While it is true that the quality of women in each country is different and Colombia is known for having very sexy women – much more so than in other countries
There are still of course plenty of attractive women in other countries also
Sure, the beer might be more expensive and the physical quality of the women might be a little lower in Latvia perhaps (or wherever else)
But you can still be sexually satisfied as a man if all you want is casual sex
Therefore, you don’t have to live in Colombia for it
Reason 8: The Negatives are Stronger then the Positives of chicas & cheap beer in Colombia
If you are living in Colombia and you have absolutely no interest in the country itself
No interest in improving your Spanish, the culture of the country with its music, literature, TV, movies and more…
If you are not interested in the politics or the history of Colombia
Not even the touristy areas in the country that are beautiful
And not even the low cost of living
If all you care about is casual sex with beautiful women and cheap beer, then you are most likely going to not stay here too long
Because the negatives of living here eventually outweigh the positives
Negatives like having to deal with corrupt cops
Or how poorly designed the city might be
Or how crazy inefficient everything seems to be in this country
The different culture will also confuse you as well since there will be things you don’t understand
Having to always speak in a foreign languages will cause headaches occasionally – no matter how good you get at it
Showing up to a meeting or some event and having everyone show up late “just because”
The lower quality of customer service is annoying also
The list goes on and on and on….
Even though I love Colombia and its culture, history and the nature it offers
There are some things about this country that annoy me some days
And those negatives will eventually stack up on each other and fall down and crush the benefits of just being here for casual sex and cheap beer
Reason 9: Feeling of Meaninglessness in life
Eventually, you will ask yourself (and others among your family and friends will ask also) – what are you doing with your life?
Because nobody on the outside gets why you are living in Colombia
You never expressed a strong interest in its culture or history before
And you also know that if all the women here were ugly and if the beer was expensive, you’d be gone in a second
And not a second of “mañana time”
A real, fast paced “going to greener pastures” second
And mixed in with all the other issues mentioned above, you might start to feel like you are wasting your life here
Which all contributes to that feeling of “meaninglessness”
Reason 10: Mental Health
In my experience, men who travel abroad to live in Colombia for a long period of time just for casual sex and cheap beer and nothing else tend to show signs of mental health problems
Not so uncommon – they are likely to become alcoholics from what I have seen or have drinking problems in general
They start to feel lonely as most of their friends move on with their life and they don’t have too many people to hang out with as they get older
Finally, the feeling of meaninglessness also has a negative impact on your sense of purpose in life
Not to mention that men, similar to women, who have a lot of casual sex partners tend to be more jaded from that experience in general from what I have seen
What is a lot? I don’t know to be fair
But put all that together and you see more signs of mental health problems from my experience seeing men who travel to this country for the chicas & cheap beer

Final Thoughts
As said, most foreigners who are here for only casual sex and cheap beer leave eventually because of all the reasons listed above. It takes a rare foreigner to ignore all of those issues and just keep living here if he has no other reasons for living here.
From what I have seen, it’s usually an older guy in his retirement years that has no desire to start a family and is basically just spending his final days with sex and cheap beer until he kicks the bucket.
Now, in of itself, I don’t think there is anything wrong if you as an individual want to live this life until the end of your days
But you do have to consider the risks as mentioned above
Finally…
I am not discouraging men either from enjoying the casual sex and cheap lifestyle down here either
There is nothing wrong with enjoying sex and the cheap cost of living
Because it is my belief that most men would benefit from a “phase” in their life where they enjoy casual sex in general and learn how to date and interact with women romantically as well
As men who don’t experience those things also tend to have a lot of problems in life also from what I have seen
And because there are 5 solutions to most of the problems listed above, which includes:
The Solutions
- Learning when to settle down eventually if that is what you want and when you find the right woman
- Being honest with yourself if you have an addiction to alcohol or sex. Not every person who enjoys this lifestyle does. In fact, most that I have met do not from what I have seen. However, those who are really addicted to this lifestyle can be. If so, make sure to address it somehow.
- Finding a higher purpose in life that is more than just having casual sex and cheap beer. This could mean finding a way to support yourself financially that also involves doing work that you love doing or is your passion. It could be other things as well. Something major in your life that you really look forward to working on.
- Continuing to improve other aspects of your life – such as improving your income, your physical and mental health, traveling more, making more real friends, pursuing hobbies, etc.
- Having more reasons to live here than just casual sex with the chicas & cheap beer in Colombia. Try to find something else in the country that you love and that you would miss heavily if you didn’t have it.
In the end…
