Will Tourism Hurt Your Dating Success with Colombian Girls?

Way back in 2006, I first stepped foot in Colombia by studying in Barranquilla.

Back then, I didn’t see too many foreigners in the country compared to today. Not many Americans, Canadians, Australians, etc.

However, much of that has changed over time.

Today, if you go to Medellin, you will see a ton of foreigners hanging around there looking to party and get laid with hot Colombian women.

Also, you will find a decent amount of foreigners in other large and popular cities like Cartagena or Bogota.

On top of that, cities that were not anywhere near as popular before are getting more foot traffic like Cali, Pereira or Barranquilla for example

Granted, there are still plenty of places in Colombia that resemble what it was like to be in Barranquilla in 2006

Cities like Pasto, Riohacha, Ibagué or Popayán for example

And even those cities will eventually get more traffic – especially Ibagué given how nice that place is

But then you have some obvious cities in Colombia that I predict won’t see much tourism for quite a while longer than even those places

Cities like Ipiales, Quibdó or Floridablanca for example

Even those places can be alright places to visit with plenty of cute Colombian women to visit….

It will simply take much longer for tourism to really ever hit places like those – if they ever do

In large part because certain Colombian cities really do soak up much of the tourism impact in this country

Similar to how places like Mexico City or Cancun take up so much of the tourism in Mexico

Or how Buenos Aires or El Calafate take up so much of the tourism in Argentina

Or how Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo take up so much of the tourism in Brazil

Yet, in countries as touristy as those, how many of you ever heard of cities like São José dos Campos (Brazil), Salta (Argentina) or Tepic (Mexico)?

Though even those cities get some tourism to some degree, they are not anywhere nearly as well known

Same with some of the cities in Colombia that I have mentioned

And so brings up a certain question that is sometimes asked….

Will the Colombian dating scene change as a result of the mass tourism?

Often, foreigners might ask this question about a certain country because they are concerned that it will somehow ruin the country and its women

That by bringing in lots of tourism, foreigners like myself will be seen as less exotic

And therefore it will be impossible to get laid in a country like Colombia

But is that actually true? Will the notable increase in tourism really ruin the dating scene here?

Or better asked – is my website going to bring down the dating advantages that gringos have in Colombia by advertising how amazing Colombian women are?

Let’s think deeper about this question…

My Thoughts

During my time living in Colombia, I have also spent considerable time traveling around Latin America

As you can read in my About page, I have been to quite a few Latin American countries

Some of the ones I have more experience in than others are Brazil, Mexico, Dominican Republic and Peru

And as you already know, there is a ton of tourism in those countries also. So let’s take a look at some of them to help us take an educated guess at where Colombia might end up if tourism increases

In Mexico, there is considerable tourism to this country as it is located right across from the US and close to Canada. For most North Americans, it is considerably easy to get to this country than other Latin countries.

It has more well developed tourist infrastructure and plenty of beautiful beaches. And for those interested in Latinas, Mexico is an obvious choice for many.

Despite that and the considerable wealth Mexico has relative to most Latin countries, Mexican women are often much more feminine than American women from what I have seen.

And while your exotic value as a foreigner is not as high in Mexico as elsewhere, it’s still easy enough to meet a cute and feminine woman in this country.

Now Mexican women aren’t as easy as Colombian women generally speaking but you can find plenty of hookups in the large capital, Mexico City.

But why are Mexican women a little more difficult than Colombian women?

Is it because of some evil westernization of the country from mass tourism?

No.

It’s because of the culture more broadly speaking. Especially outside of Mexico City, you will find Mexicans in general tend to be much more conservative. That’s why I have said before that Mexican women tend to dress more conservatively but still in a nice and feminine way.

So you can still get laid easy enough in cities like Mexico City and still find plenty of more feminine women here also.

How about the Dominican Republic?

Well, in my experience, the DR is one of the easiest countries in the Western Hemisphere (and arguably the world) for getting laid.

It also has plenty of tourism but your value as a foreigner still seems strong there.

But one of the reasons for why it’s so easy to get laid there is because of the culture in my experience.

It’s simply much more heavily sexualized in places like Santo Domingo or even Santiago.

In fact, I often have found the DR to be even easier to get laid in than Colombia and there are plenty of women there that enjoy being feminine and not afraid to show it.

And much of that can be said for Brazil as well but Brazil is a much bigger country. You will find much larger differences depending on where you are.

Though, to be fair, I have seen nastier attitudes and more “feminist” and “SJW” believes in Brazil than any of these countries mentioned.

But that’s mostly in Sao Paolo or Rio to a degree.

In most of that country, it’s not an issue.

So going back to Colombia…

It’s definitely not the mass tourism that I believe will ever hurt a foreigner’s chance at getting laid to any considerable degree.

One reason being, as mentioned in this article, is that simply being a foreigner is not going to get you laid here.

I often have found this misconception from foreigners that travel to Colombia or Latin America thinking that being a (often white) foreigner will result in….

In the end, as I have often emphasized on this website, you need to bring something to the table to get laid anywhere

Not just rely on being a foreigner or hoping being white will get you laid

That isn’t to say that the “exotic value” doesn’t exist. It absolutely does in any country.

But that it is simply nothing more than a leg up when it comes to getting laid.

It helps a little bit but you still have to look good, have good social skills, speak Spanish to a conversational level, etc

But anyway, the only negative effect that will come from mass tourism is the reduced “exotic value”

Which will definitely make it a little bit harder to get laid in Colombia but it’s not anything to be concerned about if you have your life in order

For example, look at Medellin

I have, to be fair, often written on this website in articles like this that the tourism in Medellin has hurt a foreigner’s chance at getting laid there

But Medellin is even a more special case than some city like Buenos Aires for example

Why is that?

Because Medellin is much more notable for the heavy amount of sex tourism to that city

While cities like Bogota also get lots of tourism, I don’t ever say mostly that there is some strong “sex tourist” stereotype about foreigners over here

And that’s because while Bogota does get sex tourism, it’s nowhere near the degree that Medellin does

Or anywhere near as “in your face” like it is in Medellin

So when evaluating how strong tourism will hurt the dating scene in Colombia in the future, it also depends on how much of that tourism is for sex tourism

But even if every large city was as heavily hit like Medellin, it would still be more than possible to get laid in these cities

As mentioned in this article I wrote, there are ways to get around the sex tourist stereotype in Medellin and still get laid easy enough

And yet there are foreigners who don’t follow that advice and still get laid there alright enough

So having said all of that, there are two other things in particular that will be negative when it comes to increased tourism

And the first thing is mainly that the prices will increase for when it comes to visiting and living in Colombia

So for those with more limited budgets, this is one other way that mass tourism can, to a degree, hurt your chances of getting laid here

Second, there will be increased “westernization” of Colombia in that you might see more SJWs and nastier gender relations between the sexes if tourism got strong enough.

Because as said before, in some cities like Sao Paolo or even Mexico City to a much lesser degree, you do see some of that stuff in those places

However, that is more because of the increased wealth of Colombia than necessarily just the tourism. This is just my observation from what I have seen in numerous countries. Generally speaking, it’s not the tourism that hurts gender relations but increased wealth and urbanization.

Why is that?

Because as cities become wealthier and more populated, you have more “careerist” women that focus on career than finding happiness in a relationship. As a result, a lot of these women hookup more often for pleasure while focusing on studies and career.

But a lot of these women simply become non-marriage material as they become more jaded from all the hookups and don’t have much to offer in a relationship. They often lost some of their femininity and become less enjoyable in a relationship.

On top of that, for whatever reason, relations between men and women sour a bit also from what I have seen.

But it probably won’t be as bad as it is in the US and you always have numerous other cities to visit in Colombia that won’t be as deteriorated in that way

Therefore, in summary, you really shouldn’t worry too much about the effect of mass tourism on the dating scene in Colombia for foreigners

It will have some minor negatives for the most part but overall it will still be easy enough

But what can you do to get around these negatives?

How to Stay Ahead

If you are still concerned about mass tourism, here are a few tips to help you out for when looking to get laid here in the future

First, if you are concerned about not being able to find a more feminine woman in Colombia from how mass tourism will impact this country, then go to some of the smaller cities

Because while some of these negative effects will hit places like Medellin or Bogota in worse ways, you still have plenty of lesser known cities to play with to find a feminine woman to settle down with

Second, if you are looking to just hookup, then there is no worry. Even in Medellin as of right now with all its tourism, it’s still not too difficult to hookup there

Third, visit Colombia now if you want to find a feminine woman to settle down with before things get worse here. I predict that there will be some notable changes in 10 years and definitely in 20 years. These places will not be as likely to be impacted by westernization.

Fourth, if you are looking to live here long term, learn how to build an online income or hope you can use retirement funds if you are old enough. As cost of living will increase here eventually, you will want to make sure you have plenty of savings and money. It won’t be as bad as the US for cost of living but it will probably increase in the future.

Fifth, improve yourself as a man. Improve your body, your social skills, confidence, Spanish language skills, income, etc. Not only because it will make most of the negative implications written here to be completely mute but because your life will improve in more ways than one. As written in this article, self-improvement is a key aspect of progressing in life and also having more dating success in Colombia.

Sixth, don’t worry too much. As emphasized before, things won’t likely ever be as bad here as in the US. Even in more touristy countries like Mexico or Brazil, things are not that bad overall when it comes to the dating scene. You can still find a feminine woman to settle down with in those countries and plenty of hot women to hookup with.

So take all the negative implications mentioned here with a grain of salt and enjoy yourself. There will always be sexy Colombian women to have fun with or something serious with.
